Panel Technician Apprenticeship

Main Duties:

  • Preparation of the vehicle for Panel Replacement or Repair
  • New Panel Replacement as per Manufacturer Repair Methods, Welding, Bonding, or Riveting
  • Miracle Pull Repair and Reshape
  • Preparation and Application of Cold Filler repairs,
  • Jig Measure, Pull and Alignment for Panel Replacement of Repair Diagnosis
  • Fixed and Non-Fixed Panel and Trim Removal and Refitting
  • Basic Electrical, Mechanical and Trim Removal and Refitting

Level 1:

  • Health and Safety Practices
  • Tools, Equipment & Housekeeping
  • Basic Vehicle Preparation
  • Intro to Body Repair Materials
  • Intro to Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET) Materials
  • Intro to Body Repair and MET Practices & Procedures
  • Minor Dent Diagnosis and Rectification
  • Removing and Refitting Trim and Panel Components

Level 2 / 3:

  • Preparing Metal and Plastic Surfaces for Cold Filler/plastic Repair
  • Jig Alignment and Panel Measurement Diagnosis
  • Panel Jig and Pull Techniques
  • Structural Panel Removal and Replacement
  • Welding Techniques, MIG, Spot and Braze
  • Bonding Adhesive & Riveting
  • Panel Refitting Alignment
  • Complex MET Refitting (Headlight)

Industry & Manufacturer Approval Training Opportunities:

  • BS 4872 & BS 1140 MIG/MAG and Spot Weld Training on 1mm & 2mm Steel (Ali options available as well)
  • Ultra High Strength Steel Awareness Training and MIG Braze Training
  • Modern Day Joining Techniques including Adhesive Bonding and Self Piercing Rivet Training on Leading High Tech Equipment used by Manufacturers.
  • Vehicle Manufacturer Panel Training, Mercedes Benz, BMW, JLR, & VWG Sill Section Assessments and Welding Techniques
  • Further Qualification to Senior Technician - Responsible for up to 3 other Technicians
